Murtaka
Terms of Service
These terms govern the use of Murtaka. Using the service — including during the free trial — is acceptance of them. They are written to be read, not skipped.
The account and who opens it
- Whoever opens the account confirms they are authorised to contract on behalf of the institution they register.
- Registration details must be accurate. An account on an email its holder does not own is closed — because every password recovery and every security notice passes through that address.
- You are responsible for the confidentiality of your password and for everything done from your account. Tell us immediately if you believe someone has reached it.
The free trial
Fourteen days, no card and no commitment. The service in it is complete, not reduced — a trial that does not show the real system is not a trial.
When the period ends nothing is charged automatically. The account stops accepting new work until you choose a plan, and your data remains for a reasonable period so you can subscribe or export it.
Subscription and payment
- The prices published on the home page are the ones that apply, and they include what is stated there and no more.
- Subscriptions are paid in advance for their period.
- No subscription renews by automatic charge unless you expressly authorise it at payment. If you do, you may withdraw that authorisation at any time from the subscription page, effective from the next renewal.
- We email you before any paid renewal, far enough ahead to decide — a charge that surprises its owner is not a renewal.
- We may change prices. A new price does not apply to a period already paid for, and is announced before renewal, not after.
Refunds and cancellation are set out in the Refund and Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Your data is yours
We claim ownership of nothing you enter. Data about your children, families, staff and accounts is yours; we hold it to run the service and for nothing else.
You may export it at any time. We do not hold it hostage in a dispute — an account in arrears keeps its data available for export for a reasonable period.
What is not allowed
- Entering data you have no right to enter, or using the service for an unlawful purpose.
- Attempting to reach another institution's data, or probing the system for vulnerabilities without our written permission.
- Reselling, renting, or making the service available to anyone who is not staff at your institution.
- Uploading anything harmful: malware, or flooding attempts that deny the service to others.
A serious violation suspends the service immediately — and we tell you why. Anything short of serious is preceded by a warning and a period to put it right.
What we commit to
- We aim for continuous availability and announce planned maintenance in advance. We do not promise a figure we cannot guarantee: an outage at a network or provider beyond our control happens, and honesty about it is worth more than a number on a page.
- We back data up regularly and test restoring it — a backup never restored is not a backup.
- We notify you of any security incident touching your data with what we know at the time of notice.
Limitation of liability
The service is provided as it stands. Real care goes into it; freedom from error is not warranted.
Our liability for any direct damage does not exceed what you actually paid during the twelve months preceding the event. We are not liable for indirect damage, lost profit, or data loss arising from your own act or a third party's.
Nothing in this clause excludes liability the law does not permit to be excluded.
Ending the relationship
- You may end your subscription whenever you wish, from inside the system or by writing to us.
- We may end it on reasonable prior notice, or immediately on a serious violation.
- In every case your data is made available for export for a reasonable period before erasure.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and its courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
Changes to these terms
We may amend them. A material amendment is announced by email before it takes effect, and you may decline it by ending your subscription — with a refund of the portion of the period left unused.
